Here is a compiled listing of the events taking place in and around New York City
during the week of September 11th.
8:40am - 12 Noon :: Ground Zero Ceremony
Four moments of silence for the moments the towers were struck
and collpsed. Reading of the names of the 2,749 victims by families.
8:46am :: Bells Toll
Houses of worship throughout the city will toll their bells marking the moment the
1st plane hit the World Trade Center
8:46am - 4:00pm :: Franciscan Monks Bell Toll
An orde of the Franciscan monks will toll a 5,000lb bell every 10 seconds. The public
is invited to participate. St Peter's Chirch @ 22 Barklay St
9:37am :: Pentagon Ceremony
Officials will lay a wreath and observe a moment of silence marking the moment Flight 77 crashed into
the pentagon, killing 184 people.
9:45am :: Flight 93 Ceremony
Victims will be remembered at a ceremony near the site in Shanksville, PA. Bells will toll
across Pennsylvania.
10:00am :: Midtown Firemen's Ceremony
A Mass at St Patrick's Cathedral will be held in remembrance of the 74 firemen from midtown
firehouses that lost their lives. Similar local ceremonies will be held throughout the city.
10:00am - 6:00pm :: Heart of America Quilt
Part of the Heart of America Quilt made of panels from all over the world will be displayed at
the Intrepid Museum on 12th Ave & West 46th St
12 Noon :: Port Authority Service
An interfaith service will be held at St Peter's Church (22 Barclay St) in remembrance of the
84 Port Authority employees killed.
6:30pm :: "Postcards" Memorial
This memorial honoring the Staten Island victims will be unveiled near the ferry terminal.
Sunset :: Tribute In Light
The annual Tribute In Light will be lit.
